When is the best time to buy a storm shelter?
The best time to buy a tornado shelter is before tornado season strikes. The slow season for shelter manufacturers is September through February, which makes it the ideal time to buy a shelter. Waiting until the first tornado hits may be too late.
What happens if the house collapses on top of my storm shelter after a tornado?
Survive-A-Storm off our proprietary StormWarn Service with every shelter. If a tornado touches down in your area, we will attempt to be sure you are safe. If we are unable to contact you or your emergency contacts, we notify emergency crews and send them the exact GPS coordinates of your shelter so provide assistance.
How does the tornado shelter door open if debris falls on it?
Some of our storm shelters are designed with an inswing door. The other tornado shelters we offer all have a provision to install an optional jack to pry the door open should debris block the entrance.
Where can I put a TwisterPod or Extreme safe room?
Most garages, carports, or patios can accept either model. For customers serviced from one of our more than 100 Home Depot locations, we can conduct a virtual site visit to confirm that your concrete will meet specifications.
Do you offer financing for your storm shelters?

Can my above ground shelter be moved if I sell my home?
Yes, our factory installation team can re-install your safe room for a fee should you move.
Which items should I keep inside my storm shelter?
It is important to keep emergency items in your storm shelter and for this reason, most of our tornado shelters come equipped with a bench that has a locking storage lid. We recommend that you keep a flashlight with extra batteries, NOAA weather radio, important insurance documents, backups of any photos/videos, MREs, water, first aid kit, horn and extra medicines.
How are your storm shelters vented?
FEMA 320 and ICC 500 require that tornado shelters provide four square inches of vent per occupant. All of our tornado shelters meet or exceed this.
Which is safer, a below ground or above ground tornado shelter?
This is one of the most common questions we get and they are both designed to be equally safe and both withstand an EF5 tornado. Most people have a preference and we provide tornado shelters for any application.
Do you install the tornado safe room, or do I have to install my safe room?
We have factory install teams that install our tornado shelters throughout tornado alley.
Where can I install a storm shelter?
Our storm shelters can be installed in almost any location. Depending on the model, they can be buried outside, installed in garages, or assembled in basements.
How long does it take to install a storm shelter?
In most cases, above ground safe rooms can be installed in four hours or less. Even our underground tornado shelters can be usually be installed within one day.
Can I install a tornado shelter myself?
Depending on your knowledge of construction you could reference our online YouTube videos and install your shelter.
Will I need a building permit to install my tornado shelter?
Survive-A-Storm obtains thousands of permits a year. Give us a call, we can contact your local inspector and determine this. If you do need a permit, we can make the process painless.
Do you deliver your storm shelters?
Yes, we deliver to the lower 48 states with our own special equipment and keep storm shelters in stock for immediate pick-up in most of our five locations.
Returns
We want you to feel comfortable shopping with us, so we've made our return and refund process super easy to understand.
Return Time Frame: You can return things within 30 days after you buy them. But if it's been more than 30 days, we won't be able to accept the return.
Shipping Cost: If something is broken or not right with what you bought, we'll pay for the shipping to send it back. But if you're returning it just because you changed your mind, you'll need to pay for the shipping.
Defective or Broken Products: If what you got isn't working or is broken, tell us within 30 days. We'll help you send it back without extra charges. Once we get it and see the problem, we'll either give you a new one or your money back, including what you paid for shipping.
Change of Mind Returns: If you decide you don't want what you bought, you have 30 days to send it back. You'll need to pay for the shipping back to us, though. Just make sure it's not used and is still in the box. When we receive it, we'll give you your money back for the item, minus the shipping cost.

Just installed. Packaging was phenomenal. Best packing for any package I have ever received. Directions are perfect. Inventory of items was perfect. I installed on the truck rather than the floor then lifting it with four people. By installing it on the truck I needed a second person here and there. I only have one small complaint, but I still give this a 99.99% rating. The complaint might possibly be because I assembled it on the truck instead of the floor. I have a super small gap where the rear section meets the side section at the truck rail. Its pinhole size. I will probably dab it with sealant if it leaks. I will be going to the car wash and testing it out first, but it is so very small it may not even need the sealant. I'm talking literally a pinhole size. I wonder if I assembled on the floor first if it wouldn't even be there. Other than that, everything about this topper is PURE CLASS. Shipping time, packaging, instructions, quality of materials, assembly. I love this topper.

I just installed this for my jeep Gladiator I love the windows on the sides. Construction seems to be good quality. I bought it to keep dogs in but not sure the small windows will be enough air for them. Time will tell when it warms up. Back window door seems to not shut as good but that could be the way I got everything tightened up. Still shuts fine just have to push on the one side harder. Haven’t drove with it yet but I really like it so far. Time will tell on how it holds up.
Installed the OVS Expedition Cap on my 2025 Jeep Gladiator Willys. Install was a breeze with two people,no drilling required.It came with all hardware and two different clamping options and took about 2 hours total. I purchased the expedition truck cap for my 2025 Power Wagon, everything was exceptional from the way it was packed, the quality of materials, fitment and it looks great on my rig.
What can l say, it's super easy to put up and take down by yourself. It adds so much more to the awning it self. The windows are a big plus. Really looking forward to getting the other side when it comes out! The only hard part would be figuring out which side you have and maybe the best way to fold it.
Arrived yesterday. The quality is pretty good, thick material. Installation instructions were very straight forward. It took me an afternoon to put it all together. It is heavier compared to other competitors so you will need at least 4 people to get this on the bed. Overall, this is a great buy. Affordable and durable. Hopefully they come out with a harness for the third light soon!
I spent weeks researching online. Considered many different options. Some, pretty similar in style to this one.
